Venue

The 34th International Symposium on Combustion will be held at the campus of Warsaw University of Technology, in the downtown Warsaw. Registration will begin on Sunday in the Physics Building of the University. The welcome reception will be held in the Main Building on Sunday evening. All the technical sessions, including the Opening Welcome Ceremony, will be held in the Main Building of Warsaw University of Technology. On Tuesday the Chopin piano music concert will be organized in the Trinity Church downtown Warsaw. On Wednesday afternoon an outdoor picnic will be provided outside Warsaw. Thursday’s banquet will be held at Kubicki’s Arcades below Warsaw Royal Castle in the historic Old Town, overlooking the Vistula River. Delegates will have a chance to say farewell to friends and colleagues at the Farewell Reception on Friday afternoon in the Main Building of the University.


Internet Access

Participants will get access to the wireless network on campus for internet.


Name Badges

Please wear your name badge at all times. Badges are required for admission to technical sessions and social events.


No smoking

Please observe the no smoking policy inside buildings.


Refreshment Breaks

Refreshment breaks will occur every morning and afternoon during breaks in the Technical Sessions. Coffee, tea, juice and light snacs will be available at no cost.


Lunches

Lunch is generally not provided during the Symposium. However, lunch boxes will be available on site at low cost upon earlier request. Participants are also encouraged to explore a wide variety of restaurants and food courts near University campus. A map highlighting restaurants and food courts will be provided.


Travel

Most of the guests will likely be arriving by air landing at Warsaw Chopin Airport, which has connections with most major European Airports. The LOT Polish Airline has daily direct flight connections with New York, Chicago and Toronto. Taxi service is recommended for rapid and convenient access from the airport to hotels. Take the taxi from the taxi queue outside terminal. Visa, American Express and Mastercard are accepted. Some drivers accept Euro or US$ but generally payment is in Polish currency (PLN). Public Transportation

In Warsaw there is a very elaborate public transportation system. The same tickets are valid for bus, tram and metro. Single fare ticket for a journey on one vehicle costs 3.60 PLN. There are also time tickets available:

  • 20 minutes = 2.60 PLN
  • 40 minutes = 3.80 PLN
  • 60 minutes = 5.20 PLN
  • 1 day = 12 PLN
  • 3 days = 24 PLN.
which allow for unlimited number of journeys within the fixed time from validation. The tickets can be bought at ticket vending machines or newspaper kiosks. Visa for entry into Poland

Since 2004 Poland is a member of European Union and EU nationals do not require a visa to enter Republic of Poland. The citizens of a member states of Schengen Agreement do not need visa. The citizens of countries with which there has been established an agreement of visa free traveling do not need to have visas under the condition that their stay in the Schengen area is not longer than 90 days.
